The Brief
Duke Heights BIA had a clear ambition: to give one of Toronto’s most diverse and economically vital business districts a visible identity, a sense of place that residents, workers, and visitors could see and feel from the moment they entered the neighbourhood.
The Work
Envision began with a program of solar-powered branded street markers, installed at strategic corners throughout the Dufferin and Keele corridor, 76 in total, designed to be visible to pedestrians and drivers alike. The work grew from there. In 2020, Envision reimagined a disused radio mast, creating an LED Duke Heights sign on a custom metal exoskeleton that preserved the tower’s historical integrity while giving it an entirely new presence on the skyline. A large-format illuminated gateway sign at the corner of Dufferin and Keele now marks the boundary of the BIA for everyone entering the neighbourhood.
